Ellastone Playing Field
The entrance to the playground is along Church Lane. This is a lovely place for children to come and play and run around. There is even a zipwire!
Parking for the playground is at the Parish Hall. Please note that we unfortunately cannot allow dogs onto the field – sorry!
- 1990 the Playing Field Committee was formed to manage the field for the benefit of the local community and to raise funds for the purchase of new playground equipment.
- 1993 saw the installation of the first new equipment which included the swings that are still actively used.
- 2006 the largest development went ahead which included the zip wire, ‘children’s castle’, step logs, seats and picnic table.
General maintenance of the field is kindly managed by Michael Baily and funded by the Parochial Church Council with the Parish Council covering the insurance however additional funds need to be raised to cover repairs, safety checks and the purchase of new equipment.
To help with the management of the playing field it would be useful to have another couple of volunteers, the time commitment is minimal but with such a well- used village resource it can be quite rewarding. If you would like to volunteer please contact by email using firstname.lastname@example.org
